Traditional period homes often fall short of modern living needs, but this thoughtful and carefully planned extension of a brick and flint cottage on the North Norfolk coast shows how clever design can completely transform a property.
Working closely with the client, we designed a rear extension that added bright, spacious living areas without compromising the cottage’s original character. The addition of a practical porch created a welcoming entrance, while the much-wanted soundproofed music room provided the homeowner with the perfect space to enjoy their passion for music without disturbing the rest of the household.
One of the standout features of the project is the seamless blend of old and new. By retaining the beautiful flint boundary wall and incorporating full-width bi-fold doors, the new design creates a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing the owners to enjoy the idyllic coastal setting from every angle. This project beautifully balances heritage charm with contemporary comfort, offering the client a home that is both functional and inspiring.
